No More Free Google Apps

Google Apps for business is no longer free for businesses with one to ten employees it was announced on their blog yesterday. The change is only for new users. Existing free account users can keep them at least for now. The cost for new users is a modest 50 dollars per year per user.

I've been using Google apps to host my domain-based email for a year or more. If you want to host domain-based email for free, Microsoft's Outlook.com still does that for you.

It's long been an observation of mine that Google offers an amazing array of free services and because they are free, people attach little value to them. Looks like the trend of Google offering everything for free is ending. It's been said that the new trend away from free is influenced by Apple, which gives nothing away.
